  • I want to apply for a private vehicle with wheelchair area. How can I submit the application?

    For those who apply for wheelchair area installation or apply for the modification of swivel chair from January 1st, 2013, they should follow the provision in “Safety reviewing and inspection guidance for vehicle modified with wheelchair area installation or swivel seat model”. The registration modification can be applied for at the highway supervision authority by submitting qualified inspection report affixed with company seal issued by professional vehicle technical research institution, qualified inspection record and unified invoice for modification (with license plate number) issued by legal company as well as pass inspection at the highway supervision authority.

  • How can I deal with the post-registration vehicle have modified with wheelchair lifting equipment before the regulation was published?

    Please submit the unified invoice for modification issued by legal automobile repairing company before November 20th, 2013 as well as the copy of business certificate from the legal automobile repairing industry or equipment safety certificate issued by Taiwan Automobile Repair Industry Association or other supporting documents. The change inspection and registration shall be completed before December 31st, 2017.

  • After installing wheelchair area on my vehicle, will it be regarded a seat?

    Each wheelchair area shall be regarded a seat. Wheelchair space in other vehicles shall meet the provision on attachment 2 of “Safety reviewing and inspection guidance for vehicle modified with wheelchair area installation or swivel seat model”.

  • How can I deal with reviewing on my professional vehicle driving license?

    1. Required documents:
    1) Original copy of national I.D. card or one photocopy of front side and back side of the I.D. card.
    2) The obtained driving license.
    3) One qualified health examination form (only valid within three months; it shall be done by public hospitals or the hospitals, clinics, and groups appointed by health authority or supervision authority).
    2. Application procedure:
    Please go to public hospitals or health authority or the hospitals, clinics, and groups appointed by the highway supervision authority for health examination first. After passing the examination, please bring all the required documents to the counter for driver management at the highway supervision authority.
    3. Notes:
    1) Please pay off the fine if there is any violation of road traffic management.
    2) Drivers who hold professional vehicle driving license should apply for reviewing every three years from the certificate-issuing date. A fine of NT$300~NT$600 will be imposed for overdue more than one month; the driving license will be revoked if the overdue is more than one year. The driving license revoked due to overdue can be exchanged for ordinary driving license for the same type of vehicles.

  • How can people with disability apply for vehicle license tax exemption?

    The application of vehicle license tax exemption for people with disability shall comply with the following:
    1. People with disability who obtain driving license:
    1) If the disabled who can drive and has a vehicle, please submit one copy of each of the following documents to the local tax collection.
    a. Driving license.
    b. Disability identification.
    c. Household Registration Certificate.
    d. Vehicle registration certificate.
    2) If the disabled no longer has the ability to drive:
    a. Please submit one copy of each of the following documents to the supervision authority to apply for “proof of not competent in obtaining driving license”.
    i. Affidavit for voluntarily revoking driving license.
    ii. Original driving license.
    iii. Disability identification.
    iv. I.D. card
    b. After obtaining “proof of not competent in obtaining driving license”, please submit one copy of each of the following documents to the local tax collection.
    i. Disability identification.
    ii. Household Registration Certificate.
    iii. Vehicle registration certificate.
    2. People with disability who are not able to apply for driving license:
    1) Please submit one copy of each of the following documents to the supervision authority to apply for “proof of not competent in obtaining driving license”.
    a. Disability identification.
    b. I.D. card.
    2) After obtaining “proof of not competent in obtaining driving license”, please submit one copy of each of the following documents to the local tax collection.
    a. Disability identification.
    b. Household Registration Certificate.
    c. Vehicle registration certificate.

  • What is the additional item for road test of large heavy motorcycle driving license?

    1. Other than the original subjects for road test, test of “balance driving on straight line” is added.
    2. The lane used for straight line balance driving is 15 meters in length and 40 centimeters in width. Applicants must not drive through it less than 7 seconds, and both front and rear wheels must be kept within the edge of lane with no foot touching the ground. For those who fail it at the first time, they will be given one additional chance.

  • What are the training items and testing items for large heavy motorcycle driving license?

    1. The academic subjects and teaching hours shall be delivered at driving school for large heavy motorcycle:
    1) Large heavy motorcycles with a cubic capacity not exceeding 550 cm³: The academic subjects include 1-hour driving ethics, 2-hour road traffic management regulations (Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, Regulations for Road Traffic Safety, Highway Traffic Control Regulations, and Rules for Road Traffic Signs, Marked Lines, and Signals Installation), and 1-hour vehicle construction and knowledge for repairs; 4 hours in total.
    2) Large heavy motorcycles with a cubic capacity exceeding 550 cm³:The academic subjects include 2-hour driving ethics, 7-hour road traffic management regulations (Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, Regulations for Road Traffic Safety, Highway Traffic Control Regulations, and Rules for Road Traffic Signs, Marked Lines, and Signals Installation), 1-hour vehicle construction and knowledge for repairs, 2-hour accident prevention and handling, 2-hour driving principle and method (including safe driving), and 1-hour first-aid knowledge; 15 hours in total.
    2. 14-hour driving training at the venue for skill test (including driving simulation) and basic driving practice and 14-hour applied driving practice.
    3. Skill subjects training items: Picking-up and racking, balance driving in a straight line, driving on a ramp way, railroad crossing, zebra crossing, intersection, driving in a circle, braking on a straight line, slowing down on a curve and stop, driving through continuous barriers, hook turn training, responsive driving training, and driving on the ring road.
    4. Items for skill test: Picking-up and racking, balance driving in a straight line (if failed at the first time, one re-test is allowed), driving on a ramp way, railroad crossing, zebra crossing, intersection, driving in a circle, braking on a straight line, driving on the ring road, and other operational skills.

  • How can I apply for learner’s permit?

    1. Required documents:
    1) National I.D. card or military I.D. card or alien residence permit.
    2) Three one-inch color photos with glossy single-color background, without wearing hat, with clear facial features, bust shot, and were taken within past 2 years. Do not use image synthesis.
    3) One “ordinary vehicle driving license registration form” with qualified health examination and physical fitness test.
    2. Place of application:
    Counter of learner’s permit application at section of driver management in the highway supervision authority.
    3. Fee: NT$100.
    4. Notes:
    1) Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
    2) Applicants can apply for reissuance of the lost learner’s permit (must be within the expiration).
    3) Application for learner’s permit will not be subject to the location of household registration, and application can be submitted at the local highway supervision authority.
    4) The validity of learner’s permit is one year after the permit collection date.

  • Can applicants with incomplete fingers register automobile (motorcycle) driving license test?

    Applicants with incomplete fingers on both hands and without missing all fingers or palm in one hand can apply for light or general heavy motorcycle driving license and small vehicle driving license with ordinary vehicle. If they do not have one of the following situations, they can also apply for driving license for large vehicle:
    1) Missing the thumb on both hands.
    2) Missing more than two knuckles on the index finger and middle finger on both hands.
    3) Either ring finger or little finger is completely missing on both hands or with complete functional disability as well as either index finger or middle finger is complete missing or with complete functional disability.
    4) Thumb and middle finger dystrophy on both hands with significant functional disability and are not able to bend and stretch freely.
    5) Index finger and middle finger dystrophy on both hands with significant functional disability and are not able to bend and stretch freely.
    6) Dystrophy below the carpal joint on either hand with significant functional disability and are not able to bend and stretch freely.
    7) Mutilated fingers or palm on both hands, and the grip on either hand is less than 15 kg.
