Requirements:

  1. Age: Applicants who apply for large heavy motorcycle driving license must be at least 20 years old; no limitation for the maximum age.
  2. Experience: Applicants who apply for large heavy motorcycle driving license must have general heavy motorcycle driving license for more than one year as well as certificate of training completion at driving training institutions that are legally registered.
  3. Physical fitness: Applicants who apply for large heavy motorcycle driving license must pass physical fitness test.

Training and test items for large heavy motorcycle driving license:

  1. The academic subjects and teaching hours shall be delivered at driving school for large heavy motorcycle:
    • Large heavy motorcycles with a cubic capacity not exceeding 550 cm³: The academic subjects include 1-hour driving ethics, 2-hour road traffic management regulations (Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, Regulations for Road Traffic Safety, Highway Traffic Control Regulations, and Rules for Road Traffic Signs, Marked Lines, and Signals Installation), and 1-hour vehicle construction and knowledge for repairs; 4 hours in total.
    • Large heavy motorcycles with a cubic capacity exceeding 550 cm³: The academic subjects include 2-hour driving ethics, 7-hour road traffic management regulations (Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, Regulations for Road Traffic Safety, Highway Traffic Control Regulations, and Rules for Road Traffic Signs, Marked Lines, and Signals Installation), 1-hour vehicle construction and knowledge for repairs, 2-hour accident prevention and handling, 2-hour driving principle and method (including safe driving), and 1-hour first-aid knowledge; 15 hours in total.
  2. 14-hour driving training at the venue for skill test (including driving simulation) and basic driving practice and 14-hour applied driving practice.
  3. Skill subjects training items: Picking-up and racking, balance driving in a straight line, driving on a ramp way, railroad crossing, zebra crossing, intersection, driving in a circle, braking on a straight line, slowing down on a curve and stop, driving through continuous barriers, hook turn training, responsive driving training, and driving on the ring road.
  4. Items for skill test: Picking-up and racking, balance driving in a straight line (if failed at the first time, one re-test is allowed), driving on a ramp way, railroad crossing, zebra crossing, intersection, driving in a circle, braking on a straight line, driving on the ring road, and other operational skills.
