The Suhua Highway Mountainous Section Improvement Project

  • Summary:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          The mountainous section of Suhua Highway, along Provincial Highway 9, starts in the north at the intersection of Provincial Highways 2 and 9 (104K+726) near Suao. It then passes Donao, Nanao, Guin, Hanban, Hopin, Hochong, Horen, Qingshui, and Chongte (Liwu River side, mileage around 182 kilometers) to the south. Each of these towns is known for rough terrain and a propensity for natural disasters, factors that make Suhua Highway difficult to manage. To improve this important roadway, this project will focus on sections of the highway most in need of repair while fulfilling transportation and environmental protection goals. It will provide a safe and reliable connecting highway for people to travel between eastern and northern Taiwan. The project is divided into three parts: Suao-Donao Section (9.7 km), Nanao-Hopin Section (20 km), and Hopin- Dacingshuei Section (9.1 km), for a total of 38.8 kilometers
  • Implementation Performance:
