Kaohsiung Motor Vehicles Office and Cimei Township Hall in Penghu County are collaborating to promote the "Happiness Bus" project, aiming to enhance public transportation services in Cimei Township and provide residents with more convenient basic transportation.
Cimei Township is the southernmost administrative region in the Penghu Islands. Despite its small size and population, its unique geographical location makes it highly dependent on external transportation. Currently, the island's public transportation relies mainly on medium-sized buses with a service life of over 10 years. These vehicles, exposed to sea winds, suffer from severe rust and corrosion issues, not only impacting the safety of residents' commuting but also potentially disrupting local transportation.
To address this issue, the Kaohsiung Motor Vehicles Office actively assisted Cimei Township in applying for subsidies to purchase medium-sized buses and planning more convenient service routes. With a subsidy of 3.93 million NTD approved by the Highway Bureau, the funds will be used to cover the costs of purchasing new vehicles and operating expenses.
The brand-new Happiness Bus will offer more comprehensive services, including daily fixed "ferry routes(船班路線)" and "morning island-wide routes(晨間環島路線)" as well as flexible reservation services for Cimei Township residents and travelers. The routes will cover various villages to meet the diverse needs of the people for medical appointments, education, and more.
