Starting from January 1, 2013, many vehicle owners have been found the expiration of compulsory automobile liability insurance (compulsory insurance) only after being reported for violations, following the exemption from renewing the vehicle license for private cars and motorcycles. In addition to paying fines for traffic violations, they are also required to pay penalties for violating compulsory insurance, leading to significant financial burden.

Li Jui-Ming, the director of the Kaohsiung Motor Vehicles Office, emphasizes that all vehicles must be covered by compulsory insurance. By using the "Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Electronic Certificate Inquiry" (website: https://ecard.cali.org.tw/PPCP_QRY/), you can immediately check whether the compulsory insurance is still valid. It is advisable to handle the renewal procedures before the expiration of the original insurance period to avoid any insurance coverage gaps, which could result in compromised benefits.

The Kaohsiung Motor Vehicles Office also reminds everyone that when handling various vehicle changes such as license plate registration, reissuing of licenses, resumption of operation, ownership transfer, and inspections, it is essential to have compulsory insurance with a validity period of more than 30 days. Otherwise, the registration of such changes cannot be processed. If you have further questions, please contact us: 07-7711101 ext. 101, Mr. Ling (Vehicle Management Section).
