As the year draws to a close and welcomes the new, various counties and cities across Taiwan are organizing New Year's Eve events such as countdowns, fireworks, and concerts. It's a good idea to plan ahead with family and friends on where to spend the New Year's Eve, welcoming the arrival of 2024 with warmth and joy!

To encourage the use of public transportation and ease congestion on highways, the Taiwan Highway Bureau is implementing measures during the New Year holiday period (from December 29, 2023, 00:00 to January 1, 2024, 24:00). They are promoting the use of electronic ticketing on 88 long-distance national highway bus routes, offering discounts equivalent to regular weekday fares or an 15% discount off the original fare. Additionally, passengers transferring between national highway buses, Taiwan Railways, and High-Speed Rail within 10 hours can enjoy a free transfer on local buses for one section (or basic mileage). It's recommended that those interested in participating in New Year's activities take advantage of these offers!

Moreover, the "2024 Taitung New Year's Eve Concert" will take place at Taitung City Seaside Park on December 31. The concert features numerous award-winning singers and popular bands. Furthermore, from December 30, 2023, 00:00 to January 1, 2024, 24:00, special promotions will be available exclusively in the Eastern region. You can choose between two offers: Firstly, the "Local Mobility Rental Car Discount" on designated Eastern national highway bus routes. Showcasing proof of rental car vouchers from specified vendors along with round-trip bus tickets or ticket receipts will allow you to avail discounts for the return journey (cars: NT$200 off, scooters: NT$100 off). Secondly, presenting valid accommodation certificates from Eastern region lodgings and Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Package allows four people to travel on the Eastern national highway bus (North-South or North-East lines) with one person traveling for free. Additionally, there's a discount of NT$200 on the return trip. These New Year's offers are ready for you to utilize in the coming year.

To ensure the safety, convenience, and comfort of passengers using public transportation, the Taitung Supervisory Station continues to intermittently dispatch personnel to supervise bus companies and drivers at various bus terminals. They oversee the implementation of disinfection and cleanliness measures both at stations and inside buses. Moreover, during the holiday season, they ensure that operators diligently conduct vehicle equipment checks before departure from maintenance facilities. This ensures passengers can travel with peace of mind.

Lastly, Director Hong Mei-fang of the Taitung Supervisory Station suggests using the "iBus Highway Bus" website or app to check information on highway buses and certain city bus routes. This will allow for a relaxed and pleasant mood during the holiday, while also encouraging people to opt for public transportation to avoid travel fatigue.
