In an effort to promote road safety for individuals aged 75 and above, the Kaohsiung District Motor Vehicle Office has collaborated with hospitals and health centers to provide a one-stop service that includes a physical examination, cognitive function assessment, and driver's license renewal. This thoughtful arrangement significantly reduces the time elderly citizens need to spend traveling between hospitals and motor vehicle offices.

The schedule for the motor vehicle license exchange service in November is as follows: on November 23rd from 9:30 to 11:00 at Fengshan District's Shingaofeng Hospital, and on November 24th from 9:30 to 11:00 at Qiaotou District's Taihe Hospital. We warmly welcome our senior citizens to make the most of these services.

Mr. Li Ruei-Ming, the director of the Kaohsiung District Motor Vehicle Office, explained that the office organizes sessions every month to provide care and license renewal services for elderly individuals. He urges senior drivers who receive notification letters to ensure they renew their driver's licenses to protect their own safety as well as the safety of others on the road.

Mr. Li Ruei-Ming added that elderly drivers who have accumulated demerit points or had their licenses suspended should complete the license renewal process within three months of receiving the notification letter. Failure to do so will result in license cancellation.

The Kaohsiung District Motor Vehicle Office also reminds those who no longer require a driver's license to fill out the "Voluntary Application for Driver's License Cancellation" upon receiving their renewal notification. This can be done through in-person service, fax, mail, or online application. For online applications, it's essential to clear any outstanding fines first. You can visit the Motor Vehicle Office's service website (https://bit.ly/38KUrzq) for this purpose. Once the office processes the request, the driver's license will be canceled through the Motor Vehicle and Driver Information System. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Kaohsiung District Motor Vehicle Office at (07) 771-1101, extension 204 or 206.
