Huge vehicles are advised to slow down when driving through the Taiwan 2 Line Coastal Highway

  • Organization:Northern Region Branch Office-Secretariat
ContentAt 4:51 a.m. November 29, 2022, a container tractor truck overturned on a curve at the 83km spot of the Taiwan 2 Line. While the driver was slightly injured fortunately, it still caused a single-line, two-way control on the scene for more than 2 hours. Our district maintenance office soon dispatched its employees to eliminate this accident, and it would discuss technological law enforcement with the New Taipei City Government afterwards, combined with joint inspections and spot inspections in order to prevent overweight and speeding behavior of huge vehicles. We remind the drivers of huge vehicles that some sections of the Coastal Highway on the Taiwan 2 Line are curved, so please slow down moderately. Once the speed is too fast and the truck is equipped with heavy items, it is easy to be subjected to centrifugal force which may cause the vehicle to overturn.
The Directorate General of Highways, MOTC reminds that the goods carried by freight vehicles should be fastened firmly and loaded safely. The machinery of the vehicle should be inspected regularly and the goods should be bounded firmly to prevent it from falling. If the goods carried by freight vehicles fall and cause specific passers-by injured, the driver will not only receive a fine notification but also face related claims and legal responsibilities, so please listen to the radio at any time to get the latest driving information and pay attention to the traffic control information released by the Changeable Message Signboard (CMS). Citizens who want to inquire the latest road conditions can use the in-time traffic information website of the Provincial roads(http://168.thb.gov.tw,)established by the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC, call (02)8687-5114 or the toll-free number of the Passerby Service Center at 0800-231-035.
