In order to comply with the amendment to the Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Act, it has been verified that the vehicle has not been insured with insurance. The violation will be fined by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
For Mini electric two-wheel vehicles, the fine ranges from NT$750 to NT$1,500, for motorcycles it ranges from NT$1,500 to NT$3,000, and for cars it ranges from NT$3,000 to NT$15,000. In the event of the traffic accident, the maximum fine is NT$32,000.
Furthermore, if the vehicle owner fails to renew the insurance after the expiration of the insurance period for more than 6 months, the competent authority (Financial Supervisory Commission) may request the DMV to cancel the license plate.
Luo Zhenrui, the director of the Pingtung Station, reminds you that if you move to a new residence, besides updating your vehicle registration, driver's license address, and adding or changing your contact address, remember to inform your insurance company proactively. This helps avoid penalties due to failure to receive vehicle insurance renewal notices, ensuring the protection of your own rights.
