A 5.3-magnitude felt earthquake occurred in Xiulin Township, Hualien County at 18:49 today (21st). The central branch of this bureau preliminarily confirmed it through surveillance imaging equipment (CCTV) images. The provincial roads within the jurisdiction are currently maintaining normal traffic. In areas where the magnitude of this earthquake reached magnitude 4, the Public Works Department has sent personnel to confirm the conditions of slopes, bridges and tunnels in relevant road sections; the latest road conditions will be announced in the future based on the (inspection) results.
