ContentThe 3-day Moon Festival holidays start from Friday, Sep. 9, to Sunday, Sep. 11, 2022. It is estimated that the traffic flow toward hometown will start from Thursday afternoon on Sep. 8 to Friday morning on Sep. 9. The tourist traffic is expected to emerge from Sep. 9 to Sep. 11 at scenic spots. The traffic flow heading back to workplace is expected to start from the afternoon of Sep. 10 to Sep. 11. In addition to planning public transportation and provincial highway diversion measures, the Directorate General of Highways (DGH) also provides instant road condition information for road users.
The congestion-prone provincial highway roads include the arterial roads, (No.9-Suao-Hualian Highway & South Link Highway, No.1-Shuidiliao-Fenggang section, No.61 West Coast Expressway-Xiangshan, Zhunan, and Zhongchang Bridge section), nearby sections around scenic areas (No.2- Tamsui, Wanli, and Fulong, No.3-Daxi, No.9-Jiaoxi, No.14A-Qingjing Farm, No.21-Sun Moon Lake, and No.26-Fenggang-Kending) and the sections connecting national highway interchanges.
To alleviate congestion, the DGH plans various relief measures including alternative routes, flexible adjustment of signal phase, closure control of some intersections, periodical prohibition control of large trucks, and provision of real-time road condition information. The DGH will coordinate with local police units to maintain traffic order on busy road sections and ban violations. Priority measures are implemented for buses on the Suao-Hualian Highway to encourage the public to take public transport during the holiday.
The lanes of Provincial Highway No.1 from Gaoping Bridge to Fenggang and Provincial Highway No.26 from Fenggang to Hengchun are reduced on the construction sections due to the pole & line landing and landscaping projects. Alternative routes and lane shifting measures are planned. Please follow the signs and guidance on site.
The DGH launches series of nationwide bus-fare discounts from Sep. 8 to Sep. 11, including:
1. Travelers who take 86 National Highway routes can enjoy weekday discounts or 15% discount on fares.
2. When transferring local buses, passengers who take Taiwan Railway, Taiwan High Speed Rail and freeway buses, enjoy fare free for first mile or section.
3. Travelers with smartcard enjoy 50% discount on 49 Taiwan Tourist Shuttle services.
The DGH offers 2 limited concessions for the Eastern Region from Sep. 9 to Sep. 11. Please choose one from below.
1. After taking designated Eastern Freeway bus route, with the ticket stub you can get the car or scooter rental discount from designated vehicle rental companies.
