ContentThe 2022 Dragon Boat Festival holiday will be a 3-day holiday from Friday, June 3rd to Sunday, June 5th. Many people will return home and have trips during this holiday period. It is expected to see many people going out for sightseeing and participating in Dragon Boat Festival activities. It is estimated that the traffic will get crowded from the afternoon of June 2nd. Sightseeing tour buses and cars will start showing up in major scenic tourist hotspots throughout the days from June 3rd to June 5th. The traffic tide for returning home is expected to appear from noon on June 4th to June 5th.
For road traffic, the Directorate General of Highways will plan various relief measures according to the traffic characteristics of each road section that is prone to have traffic jams, including alternative roads, flexible adjustment of the signal timing system, closure control of some intersections, periodical prohibition control of large trucks, and real-time road condition information provision of provincial roads. The directorate will coordinate with local police units to strengthen the maintenance of traffic order on busy road sections and traffic control measures and disallow any violations. The priority measures are implemented for buses on the Suao-Hualian Highway and encourage the public to take public transportation during the holiday.
The Directorate General of Highways actively coordinated with various bus companies to adjust the transport capacity for public transportation. The bus companies will provide a total of 29,000 buses and 998,000 seats respectively on the east and west national highways for the holiday period. All companies will start selling pre-sale tickets two weeks before the holiday. The Directorate will also continue to invite passenger transportation companies to flexibly adjust the frequency according to the sales situation to meet travelers’ needs.
The Directorate General of Highways will launch a number of preferential measures for public transport during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. Travelers who take 87 National Highway routes can enjoy weekday discounts or 15% discount on fares. Travelers with e-tickets can enjoy a 50% discount on 47 Taiwan Tourist Shuttle services. In addition, passengers who take Taiwan Railway, High-speed Railway, and National Highway passenger transport and local urban buses can also enjoy free discounts on one-stage tickets or basic mileage. Special discounts will be launched for those who go to the eastern region. Travelers, who hold the Taipei-Yilan or Taipei-Hualian National Highway tickets and buy the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle experience package tickets or stay in local legal accommodation in the eastern region, can enjoy round-trip ticket discount, buy four get one free. The return trip can also be discounted to NT$200, or travelers can enjoy the Hualian-Taitung’s local rental discount on car rentals or NT$200 off on the passenger round-trip fares. Travelers can only choose one discount mentioned above. Please choose the best option.
