The long 10-day holiday during Chinese New Year this year plus ease of domestic epidemic development may contribute to popularity of domestic travels. Chiayi, a county facing the sea and adjacent to mountains, is a popular destination for domestic travels with Alishan, the origin of the Tsou people, on its east as well as coastal scenery featuring fishing ports and floating racks at Dongshi and Budai townships on its west. Huang Wan-Yi, Director of the Chiayi Motor Vehicles Office, would like to suggest travelers to savor a slow travel at Chiayi during the Chinese New Year via public transportation to prevent the impacts on travels due to traffic congestions and feel the charm of its townships to the fullest.

Travelers wishing to glance at the spectacular sunrise and sea of clouds or inhale the refreshing air in the woods trails at Alishan may visit Alishan taking Chiayi County Bus Service Administration (“CCBSA”) Route [7329] at HSR Chiayi Station or Route [7322] at TRA Chiayi Station and disembark at Alishan Transport Station. To visit Dongshi Fishman's Wharf for oceanic views accompanied by glorious sunset and seafood, visitors may take Chia-Yi Bus Route [7211] at HSR Chiayi Station or TRA Chiayi Station and transfer to Route [7233] at Puzi Bus Station; alternatively, take CCBSA Route [179] at HSR Chiayi Station and disembark at Dongshi Fishman's Wharf. Tourists intending to visit Budai Fishing Port or High-Heeled Shoes Church of Budai may take Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Route 61 “The West Coast Expressway” at TRA Xinying Station and disembark at the Glass Shoe Church; alternatively, take Chai-Yi Bus Route [7209] or CCBSA Route [7327] at HSR Chiayi Station or TRA Chiayi Station and get off at Buxin Bridge. For a more convenient trip planning and a breezy and slow travel in Chaiyi, the download of iBus APP by Directorate Generate of Highways, MoTC for rides information is suggested.

Furthermore, with similar concessions compared with the previous years, the Directorate Generate of Highways, MoTC has released three major concession measures for highway buses, including weekday rate or 15% discount for fare of expressway buses, exemption of base mileage or one-zone fare for transfers to regional buses following HSR, TRA or expressway bus rides, and 50% off for Taiwan Tourist Shuttle rides paid via e-tickets. The Directorate Generate of Highways, MoTC welcomes citizens to utilize public transportations more and enjoy Chinese New Year holiday with concessions for rides.
