The central and local governments are cooperating and offering additional incentives to encourage people to participate in ordinary heavy motorcycle driving courses in order to enhance their safety awareness and defensive driving skills. Those who register for ordinary heavy motorcycle driving courses at driving schools under the Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office (nine schools, including Taipei Driving School Alliance, Fu-an Driving Class, Union Driving School, Binjiang Driving School, Dahua Driving School, and Huafeng Driving Schools in Taipei City; DLK Driving School and KL Driving School in New Taipei City; and Peide Driving School in Keelung City) and successfully obtain a driver's license will receive a subsidy of NT$1,300 for training fees per person. The subsidy from the Highway Bureau, MOTC will be available until November 30, 2023, while the subsidy from the Department of Transportation, Taipei City Government will be available until December 8, 2023.
The Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office has stated that through cooperation between central and local governments, those who participate in driving lessons for ordinary heavy motorcycles at one of the six driving schools under the jurisdiction of the Taipei City area and pass the driving test to obtain an ordinary heavy motorcycle license will receive a subsidy of NT$1,300 per person for training fees. Furthermore, the Taipei City government coordinates with shared scooter providers, electric scooter dealers, and the Taipei City Parking Management and Development Office to jointly promote motorcycle driving lessons. Two shared scooter providers, WeMo Scooter and iRent, offer preferential packages with new rider incentives. Furthermore, if citizens purchase an electric scooter at a GOGORO dealer, they can enjoy discounts and free gifts, as well as a monthly roadside motorcycle parking pass (not applicable to electric scooters free from parking fees) provided by the Taipei City Parking Management and Development Office.
